Emma’s POV
I think the judge was actually enjoying himself at the moment. It seemed like he expected her to behave like this. Joan had brought this entire situation on herself, as she had no one else to blame. The jury was only out for about 30 minutes. I was surprised by how quick they had come to a decision. We had only taken a bathroom break and stretched our legs when they came back with the verdict. I started to worry about how quickly they returned when Craig, sitting on the other side of me, leaned over and spoke.
“Usually when the jury comes back this quickly, it is usually with a guilty verdict,” he told me.
That helped me to calm down a little. We had to wait for the judge and Joan to return to the room before things got back underway. I would have been a nervous
