Andrea was silent all the way out to my truck, lost in thought. Once we got onto the main road, she finally spoke up.
“Why would Noel continue to try to blame Emma after all these years? They treated Emma terribly; I saw it, but I had to take it as Emma wanted a relationship with her father. I've wanted to deal with those two for so long. I blame myself for not making them stop bullying my daughter. This is all my fault. Maybe if I had stopped them sooner, maybe Joan would have known better than to come after Emma,” Andrea stated, her voice breaking as she finished.
“It’s not your fault. They made their choices,” Emma replied. I reached out and took her hand. She was truly my biggest blessing.
