Brett’s POV
Noel really thought I had no recourse against her. She truly thought I would always be under her thumb. I guess she’s about to learn a hard lesson tonight. When she told me that the police couldn’t touch her, I realized that she was telling the truth. She lies so effortlessly that I knew I had to change tactics.
I made a call to not one, but three gossip magazines and had the people she feared the most come to the diner. I was working hard not to laugh. The paparazzi got here about two minutes before the police did. She was still lounging in my car, not a care in the world, until the flashes got her attention.
I was close enough to hear the lies she told the police, but I was going to wait for her to paint herself into a corner before I told them what happened.
