Jade moved a few days after Marisol's visit.
Not in the way we'd expected — not another photograph, not another anonymous message. She moved the way Marcus had warned she would when the pressure campaign stopped producing results: she went direct.
The call came to Patricia's office in the morning.
Patricia relayed it to me an hour later, sitting across from me in the Wolfe building conference room, with the folder and the reading glasses and the particular expression of someone who has been in difficult legal rooms for thirty years and knows exactly when something is serious.
