I didn’t want the kids to know that their father was involved in an accident. It was going to ruin the rest of the party. I decided to tell only Amanda and David, so they would take care of the kids and make sure that they had the best birthday ever.
I didn’t even tell the kids that I was leaving, because they would ask me numerous questions that I couldn’t give them the answer to. So, I just asked Amanda to say that I went to pick up something when they eventually asked.
As I drove to the hospital, I prayed silently that Alexander was going to be okay. I didn’t want it to be something serious that would make his life difficult.
