The water around us had gone still again, the earlier laughter fading into a softer quiet. The sun hovered high above the cliffs, and the white villas scattered along the hillside gleamed so brightly that I had to squint whenever I glanced up.
Ethan’s arms were still loosely around my waist, keeping us afloat near the edge of the infinity pool. The warmth of his body contrasted with the cool water, and for a moment I allowed myself to simply enjoy it.
This was what our honeymoon was supposed to feel like.

Ethan rested his chin lightly against my shoulder. “You look like you’re thinking too hard again.”
I turned my head slightly. “Is thinking a crime now?”
