Eralia’s POV The next few days are a blur of frantic, circular thoughts. I spend the next few days overthinking everything, my mum took the deal, she’s going to jail . . . for five years, and . . . she wants to see me. I have swung back and forth over whether to grant her request, my thoughts rocking between resentment and an ingrained feeling of obligation. But after yet another sleepless night, staring up at the ceiling with only my racing thoughts and the warmth of the man beside me for company, I realise that I have no choice but to go. Whether it’s curiosity about what she could possibly have to say, or the stubborn, remaining veins of loyalty that I feel toward the woman who birthed, I can’t be sure. What is certain is that I’ll never have peace until I find out what she wants. T
