I froze mid-step as my eyes landed on Jamal.
My heart skipped a beat. What was he doing in New York? Why was he with Valerie? I thought that their relationship had ended.
I let out a frustrated sigh when I realized that it was my fault. I was the one who called him when I couldn’t reach Valerie.
I just hoped that he was just here for Liam and he wasn’t getting back together with Valerie. I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself if I turned out to be the reason why they reconciled.
“Get it together, Patrick. You should be thinking about your son’s recovery right now.” I muttered to myself as I walked over to the hospital reception to meet them.
“Where is Liam?” Valerie asked as soon as she saw me.
