“Did you decide to forgive me and agree to this date because of Patrick?” Damien’s question startled me and I shifted uncomfortably in my chair.
I shook my head. “Why are you asking?” I demanded, making sure to avoid eye contact with him.
Did he already figure out that it was Patrick who convinced me to go out with him or what?
He leaned his back against his chair. “I saw on the news that he went out on a date with someone else last night…you’re still in love with him and it hurt you, so you’re using this date as payback.”
A relieved sigh I hadn’t realized I was holding escaped my lips. I thought he was talking about something else.
