I was having a nap when the sound of my buzzing phone woke me up. I tried to ignore it and get back to sleep, but the caller was persistent.
Letting out a low groan, I opened my eyes and sat upright on the bed. I didn’t even look at the caller ID properly before answering the call.
I pressed the phone closer to my ear, and just as I was about to speak, Valerie’s mom’s voice echoed through the other end of the line.
“Patrick, I’ve been trying to reach Valerie but she isn’t answering. The kids are missing.” She said, her voice laced with fear.
It clicked instantly in my head.
“The kids are missing? What kids?” I got out of bed immediately.
“Noah and Liam.” She trembled as she responded.
I was so confused.
How were the kids missing?
