I clutched the phone tighter, letting out a deep sigh. “Nothing…..I just wanted to talk to you.” I replied, my voice calm and precise.
Jamal responded with a chuckle. “Talk? About what?”
I closed my eyes briefly, sitting up on the bed. “I just wanted to see how you were doing. It’s been a long time since we spoke to each other.”
Jamal sighed. “You should be happy I even answered your call.” My heart shattered at his words. “You just called on a good day.”
I held back a scoff.
But could I even blame him for his reaction?
“I guess enough….I’m grateful alone for the fact that you answered the call.” I admitted, my voice low. “Jamal, I owe you an apology.”
