I slapped my hand over my mouth as a shocked gasp escaped my lips. My eyes widened, unable to tear my gaze away from the grisly sight.
Adrian's body was laid out on the beach, his torso bare, his head nowhere to be seen. His skin was pale, his limbs splayed at unnatural angles. The sand around him was dark with blood, the metallic scent of it mixing with the salty air.
I could feel Dominic tense beside me, a low growl rumbling in his chest. He was in Alpha mode, his protective instincts kicking in. He put an arm around me, pulling me close, shielding me from the horror.
