Ambulance came in just in time, and uncle Giovanni started directing the men to get him inside the ambulance. My mom was not cooperating, she held onto him so tightly, not wanting to let him go. He tried to calm her down, whispering words of reassurance in her ear.
"Let them do their work, Hailey. Let them try. I will be with you. We will get through this."
My uncle had to physically pry her away from him, and she collapsed into his arms, sobbing uncontrollably.
I was just standing there, unable to move, unable to think.
My uncle noticed me, and he motioned for me to come closer. I tried to move, but my legs wouldn't cooperate.
"Liam," he said, his voice was gentle, but firm. "We need to talk."
