When Stan pressed the soft strip of cloth over my eyes, I froze for a heartbeat.
I’d been waiting for him in the backyard like he asked me to. He’d said we had something to check before dinner. Something important. I thought he meant a patrol update or maybe something about the borders… definitely not this.
