Seraphina looked at him with horror.
“It’s true, dear. I killed your family,” Frank said softly and cruelly. He leaned closer and caressed her face with a smile that did not reach his eyes. “Your father was a special officer. He collected evidence against me. The same night, Vincenzo killed my father. Because of him, I left my work unfinished.”
He watched her like a predator, enjoying the shock that flashed across her face.
“Actually, Vincenzo,” he continued, his voice sharp with triumph, “I will not kill your wife. I promised her boyfriend I would ‘gift’ her to him if he got you off your guards.” He shoved Seraphina to the ground. She hit the dirt and winced, the wind knocked from her chest.
“Jarvis! Your gift!” Frank shouted, triumph ringing through his words.
