The morning light filtered softly through the curtains of our room, painting everything in warm gold. Colossus was already awake, but he hadn’t moved. He lay on his back with me curled against his chest, one massive arm wrapped securely around me while his fingers traced slow, soothing patterns along my spine. When he felt me stir, he pressed a lingering kiss to the top of my head. “Morning, my love,” he murmured, voice still husky with sleep. “How’s your heart today?” I tilted my face up to meet his gentle gray eyes. “Better because you’re here.
