The morning after the peace agreement felt almost too calm. I woke up to the feeling of warm lips pressing gentle kisses along my bare shoulder. Colossus had pulled me close in his sleep, his massive body curled protectively around mine like a living shield. When he felt me stir, he nuzzled into my neck with a soft, contented hum. “Morning, my beautiful old lady,” he whispered, voice deep and sleepy. He rolled me gently so I faced him, then brushed my hair back with such tenderness it made my heart squeeze. “Did you sleep okay?” I smiled and traced his jaw with my fingertips. “Best sleep I’ve had in weeks.
