The sound of Caden's door opening and I brace myself for the torturous laughter.
I can almost say that I was expecting it. There's a nerve-wracking silence that comes afterwards and my ears itch to hear just what's going on. I almost break my neck trying to find something. Even just a sound.
Annoyance begins to bubble in my gut.
Why do I even care anyway?
I rest my head back on my pillow and chant the sentence I've been telling myself since she got here.
“I don't care about him, I don't like him, I don't want him”
I repeat it over and over again till it seems right and I start to believe it myself.
I feel my shoulders slouch and I begin to get comfortable again but I start to hear harshed mumbles and my ear perks up.
