Damon's Point of View When I arrived at my mother's estate, she was already in the sitting room. Waiting. Goddess knows how long she'd been there, but the stiffness in her posture told me it had been a while. We sat facing each other. Neither of us knew where to start, what to say that wouldn't ignite another explosion. She spoke first. "I'm sorry." Her voice was barely above a whisper. "I shouldn't have... I shouldn't have called her a prostitute." My jaw clenched. "Her name is Sera, Mother." "I know." She nodded slowly, her hands folded tightly in her lap. "I know her name now." This time, we didn't argue. There were no raised voices, no accusations hurled across the room. It almost would've been easier if we had fought. At least then I'd know what to do with the emotion building
