Rion’s POV Her hands came up suddenly, cupping my face with both palms like she was afraid I’d disappear if she let go. Fresh tears slid down her cheeks, catching the light. I caught them with my thumbs before they could even reach halfway, wiping them away before they could fall. Did I push her too hard? Had I been too cold, too ruthless with her? What the hell was I supposed to do now? What could I even do? Seeing her cry like this was killing something deep inside me, twisting it slow and vicious. I didn’t think. I just scooped her up…arms under her knees and back…and carried her across the room to the single chair in the corner.
