Adrian’s POV The scent hit harder than I expected, thick and unmistakable, flooding the room like it owned every inch of air. My knees buckled for half a second and I staggered, catching myself against the doorframe as a rush of something raw and unwanted slammed through my chest. I shook my head sharply, trying to clear the sudden fog that clouded my thoughts, but it only made the room tilt worse. I grabbed my head with both hands, fingers digging into my scalp, eyes squeezed shut while my whole body shook with the force of it. This wasn’t supposed to happen. I had locked it all down.
