I woke up with a start. I felt my head and to my relief, the headache was gone. I heard the birds chirping outside and I knew it was dawn. I must have been out for the night. I blinked and sat up, hearing a gasp from someone nearby.
"Jack!" I felt weight against me as Tori flung her hand around me.
"Hey." I smiled wearily, patting her back.
Gazing beyond her, I noticed we were not alone. Aunt Felicia and Uncle Landon were present in the room too. Damian stood nearby by the door with his arms folded as usual and a scowl on his face. I glowered at him.
"Thank goodness." Aunt Felicia put a hand over a chest. "You nearly had us worried."
I glanced over at Damian and caught a sudden shift in demeanour. It went from nonchalant to relief and then back to the former. I raised an eye
