Caden listens closely, soaking in everything I say and it leaves me feeling like I need to keep talking, so I do. Flushing slightly, I look away from the other man as I admit, ‘I was probably in my seventh or eighth earth rotation before I saw a star, I thought the sun had exploded when I first saw them, my mother explained that they were sky lanterns to help us see when the sun was sleeping. It wasn’t until I was much older that I found out that they were called stars by the human world.’
The Alpha smiles, ‘it is a beautiful sight, the stars of the night sky’ he comments, ‘I like the term sky lanterns though.’
I nod, ‘I used to like to find a spot in the forests where I could see through the trees just so I could see them twinkling above me.’
