Damien’s POV
“Pregnant,” I smiled, “She is pregnant. We are having a baby.” We could fix everything. We could be a family.
I looked at Sofia but she wasn't as happy as me. “Sofia, didn't you hear the doctor?”
“I did.” She turned her face not wanting to look at me.
“Is there something wrong?” I was confused.
Sofia stood beside me, her face pale. “Damien… there are some truths you need to know. But I cannot be the one to tell you. Not here. Not like this. Go check on Elena first. She is awake. She needs to see you. I will explain better after.”
Her words cut through the joy like a knife. Truths. What truths? I looked at her, confusion mixing with the happiness. “What are you talking about? She is pregnant. Our baby. What else is there?”
