“What’s going on?” Lucia repeated, looking between Benjamin and his new girlfriend. She looked utterly confused and I was certain she was starting to question if she knew exactly who Ben’s girlfriend was.
“Do you want to tell her?” Adriana asked him. “Or should I?”
“Tell me what?”
Ben glared at Adriana. “She’s my mom. You don’t have to tell her anything.”
She responded by arching an eyebrow. I held back a smile. It was something she used to complain about being unable to do. There was no doubt she practiced it in front of the mirror several times to get it right.
