Evelyn Max is kind. As I’ve been regaining my strength, he’s been engaging with me more. After my first meal today, he introduced himself. After my second meal, he offered to read out loud to me. He’s reading a whodunit which feels a little on the nose when he’s keeping watch over a prisoner who is suspected of being a spy. Still, it passes the time. Plus, the kindness of him taking the time to read out loud to me helps restore my faith. In what, I’m not quite sure, but faith nonetheless.
