“I’m pregnant.”
The words hung in the air between us. I wasn’t sure what to say. Was it good news or bad news? Did she want to be pregnant, or was this a stressor in her life. But then she grinned happily and did a little dance, so I knew it was okay to congratulate her.
“Wow, that’s awesome!” I hugged her tightly. “Have you told Raphael?”
“Oh God, yes. I couldn’t keep it a secret. Lucy knows too.”
“How did he take it?” I asked cautiously.
“Deliriously excited and happy,” Beth laughed. “You know he missed all of Lucy’s milestones. So he’s extra excited to be present for this one.”
