The ambush started less than three minutes later. Gunfire erupted from the train cars without warning while bullets shredded metal around us and suddenly Devil’s Hollow dove for cover as the rail yard exploded into chaos. “Contact left side.” Roman roared. Saint fired immediately and Crow returned fire from behind an overturned maintenance truck. Meanwhile I threw myself behind a steel container while my heart attempted escape. Apparently sleep deprivation and active gunfights made terrible companions. Who knew. Another burst of gunfire slammed into the container. Metal screamed and sparks flew.
