He kept watching me. Every few minutes his eyes drifted toward my stomach and eventually I snapped. "Stop staring." I snapped and his expression changed. "I'm sorry." He said. "You've been staring for an hour." I said. "I know." He said. "Knox." I said and he looked down. I knew immediately that something was wrong. Not irritation. Not frustration. Fear. Still fear and I reached for his hand. "Talk to me." I said. "I'm fine." He said. "No." I said and he sighed. "You almost lost the baby." He said. The words were quiet. Painful. "I know." I said. "I wasn't here." He said. "You were dealing with Vane." I said. "I shouldn't have gone." He said. "Knox." I said. "I shouldn't have left." He said. "You had to." I said. "No." He said as his voice became rough. "I chose to go."
