Chapter 6 - Unexpected Family Meeting - Part 1.

'Sometimes life coughs up coincidences no writer of fiction would dare copy' ~ Stephen King A Couple Of Days Later... Daniella's P.O.V. Growing up, my dad always used to say that there's no such thing as a coincidence and he would even go as far as giving my mom and me examples to back up this claim. For example, he would freak out and think that something bad was gonna happen whenever he would see a black crow because of their association with death and also them being a bad omen as well. Most people think that this is just a silly superstition and that it's not a real thing but not my dad who strongly believed that it was real and that there must be more to the lore than what people think because the way that he saw it is that things like this don't just appear out of nowhere, so they must have come from somewhere or from someone's lived experience, right?. Not to mention that he also claimed to have seen at least one crow every single time a member of his family or one of his friends had passed away or when there was a major tragedy going on in the world. I remember several years ago when I was just a kid, I was excited to see a crow on our windowsill because it was my first time seeing one and I thought it was so cool but my daddy didn't feel the same way. In fact, I remember his face turning pale as he muttered under his breath that something wasn't right which was later proven to be correct when he received a phone call from my tia who told him that their mama had passed away from a heart attack that very morning. (Auntie) As you can expect, my parents were heartbroken and I was also upset as well because it was my abuela who had died but I wasn't as upset as I probably should have been because I was just a little kid who didn't understand anything about death yet. (Grandmother) Another thing my daddy didn't think was coincidental was randomly bumping into people who you don't know but they claim to be a long lost family member or an old friend you forgot about because he believed that there must be a reason for their sudden appearance. A perfect example of this happened a few years ago when my parents and I were out shopping at our local Walmart and a woman 'accidentally' bumped into us, claiming to be my dad's long lost half-sister via his dad who he never knew existed because he and his father had a massive falling out with each other decades ago after my abuelo had an affair with his now wife which resulted in his parents getting divorced. (Grandfather) Naturally, my dad didn't believe her and we quickly left thinking that was the end of it but then a couple of weeks later, the same woman showed up on our doorstep and promised to leave us all alone forever if we agreed to do a DNA test with her to prove that she was telling the truth which my father was hesitant to do at first because he didn't want that added betrayal from his dad but he eventually agreed to take the test after discussing it with my mom. Even after the DNA results came back as positive, my dad was still pretty hesitant to get to know his half-sister because he didn't trust her and he felt like she had an ulterior motive for wanting to get close to us which she did and my dad was beyond pissed when he found out her reasons for deceiving us. Apparently, she had been following us around everywhere for at least six months before we first met her because she wanted to find a way to sneak into our lives and make it look natural, so that she can build a relationship with us but it wasn't because she wanted to, no, it was because my abuelo was sick and needed a kidney transplant, so she plotted and schemed to get close to us in hopes that my dad and I would get tested to see if we were a match. Spoiler alert, he wasn't and neither was I for obvious reasons that I didn't know at the time, so she did all of this for nothing. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that my father strongly believed that coincidences were a myth and that there must be a reason behind everything that happens in this world and also for the people that we meet as well. Me, on the other hand, I both agree and disagree with him on this subject because I believe that both can be true at once, it just depends on the situation, that's all. Take the past couple of days, for example. After Dante left my home the other night, I had a long, hot bath and went to bed because I knew that I was gonna have a rough and chaotic few weeks ahead of me, so I was gonna need as much sleep as I can possibly get to keep me energised and focused. I had hoped that he'd leave me alone and let me be but unfortunately, I'm not so lucky because I was being bothered by the man from the moment I woke up from my beauty sleep. Like with most people when they first wake up, I picked up my phone to check it for the time and also to check my notifications as well which I really wished I hadn't done that morning because I ended up finding dozens of missed calls, voicemails and text messages from Dante which ranged from angry, sad and desperate to him begging and pleading with me to talk to him and give him a chance to explain everything to me. Instead of reading and listening to them, I just ignored them all for my own sanity, so that I could get on with my day and focus on my tasks without him lingering in my head like a bad memory. Unfortunately, I couldn't ignore Dante for long because as soon as I had stepped out of my home this morning to go and see a friend and run some errands, I immediately noticed that I was being followed everywhere I went by some of my asshole ex's biker boys. How do I know that it's his men who are following me? I'm sure you're asking yourselves. Well, I know this because seeing one man on a bike every once in a while is one thing and seeing more than one on the same day could even be classed as a coincidence, right? but to see a biker on every single corner I've turned and following me everywhere I go being as subtle as a freaking house brick is completely different and in my opinion, it's nowhere near being a coincidence. There's also the fact that all of the guys who have been following me around have had the same exact emblem consisting of a skull and a hissing snake on the back of their leather jackets which I immediately recognised from the huge tattoo on Dante's back. I also recognised this emblem from the night I confronted my sperm donor at his little boys club because that thing was everywhere including in the bar area where I remember seeing a massive and very expensive looking neon sign on the wall of the same design with Steele Vipers MC going around it which is proof enough for me to believe that all of this is Dante's doing but what I want to know is why?. Why is he doing all of this when he promised to leave me alone and give me some space?. This is the question that's been running through my mind all day and the more that I think about it, as well as the asshole who is responsible for all of this, the angrier it makes me feel which I didn't think was possible but apparently, it is. Anyway, I've been bombarding Dante with non stop calls for the past hour but unfortunately for me, the jerk has decided to ignore me which is crazy if you think about it because he's spent the past two days blowing up my phone because he needs to see and talk to me but when I need to speak with him about his creepy friends, he's suddenly MIA. This is ridiculous. "Urgh!!, answer the phone, you dickhead" I growled at my phone as I parked my car in my driveway. Don't worry, my phone is hands free, I promise you. I don't plan on putting another family through the exact same pain and trauma that I've been forced to suffer through these past few weeks. Anyway, I tried calling Dante again as I grabbed hold of my phone and handbag before getting out of my car and grabbing the bag of groceries from the back seat but he's still not answering me. "Answer the f*****g call, jackass" I growled in annoyance as I slammed my car door shut. I then headed inside of my home feeling angrier than I've ever felt in my entire life when I heard Dante's stupid voicemail message again. Ok motherfucker, if that's how you want it, then that's how you're gonna get it. I thought to myself as I kicked my front door shut and headed into my kitchen whilst cursing out my demon ex. "Dante DeLuca, I swear to God on everything that I have that I'm gonna wring your bastard neck when I see you again" I growled at him. "How dare you send your friends to follow me around? I don't know who you think you are but if you don't call me back or at least call off your dumbass guard dogs and tell them to stop following me around, then I'll do it myself and you know I will, asshole" I threatened him as I walked into my kitchen and placed my things on the kitchen counter. I then continued to curse him out as I unpacked my groceries but I ended up getting frustrated or even more frustrated with him, I should say when I dropped a bag of chips on the floor. Great. Now, this man is messing with my snacks. I thought to myself with an angry sigh as I picked up the chips and threw them on the counter. "Call me back, Dante" I once again growled as I ended the call. "Dante can't do that at the moment, principessa" A gruff voice with a strong Italian twang said from behind me which startled me to the point that I nearly dropped my phone. "What the f**k?" I growled as I spun around and I was left angry, shocked and confused when I locked eyes with none other than Enzo Castello but he wasn't alone. No, he's brought four of his minions with him as well who all looked very intimidating. They're all huge both in muscles and stature and they're covered in tattoos and piercings which seems to be A typical for these kinds of men. One of the men has also got a scar on his left eye going from the top of his eyebrow to just under his eye which looks like a straight line from where I'm standing, the four men also look similar to each other as well which makes me think that they're all Enzo's sons. "What the...what the hell are you doing in my house?" I asked the five men who were all looking at me with stoic expressions as Enzo's eyes softened a little. "We've come to see you, Dani...we need to talk, sweetheart" What the hell?.
