Chapter Sixteen I watched Khalid finish his second large mug of hot lemon tea in complete silence. The thick white steam curled up around his face, and even though he looked incredibly sick and totally exhausted, he still looked unfairly handsome to me. His broad shoulders were bent slightly forward, and every few minutes, a deep, painful cough rattled hard through his chest. The heavy feeling of guilt twisted around inside my stomach all over again. This massive man, this six-foot-five hockey captain that absolutely everyone in the sports world called The Beast had willingly slept flat on the cold carpeted floor outside my front door all night long just because of me.
