"This might sting, just a little prick, and it will be over." Sky whimpered when I inserted the needle.
"Sorry, hope it didn't sting too much. I hope this works; it's our last hope, and I don't want you to suffer any longer. I know you miss Robynne as much as I do, and all this was my fault, for being a playboy and fooling around, when I should have saved myself for you and Robynne. I feel so guilty." I rubbed her neck where I inserted the needle, put the needle away, sat by the bed, my hand scratching her head, till Sky's eyes closed, then moved my hand to her paws, imagining I was holding Robynne's hand, and laid my head on the bed.
