Two weeks wasn’t a lot of time to prepare for a wedding.
I’d known the wedding was coming, of course. It had been part of the arrangement from the beginning, after all.
But knowing that something is coming at some point in the unforeseeable future and having an actual date attached to it are two different things.
Two weeks from Saturday, it would be official. Not a tentative title on a piece of paper but an actual marriage, with witnesses and photographs and all the legalities that came along with it.
If either of us wanted out after that, it wouldn’t be as simple as tearing up a contract and walking out.
I told myself that didn’t bother me, but deep down, it did a little bit.
