Consciousness came back to me in the blink of an eye, or I thought it was. I looked around the darkened room. I didn’t recognize where I was. But my brain finally caught up, and I realized I was in a hospital room. I thought I was by myself when I heard the bathroom toilet flush, and then the sink turned on. I was looking at the door when it opened.
Anthony strolled out, his eyes seeking mine as he shut the door. They lit up when he saw my eyes were open.
“Tesoro mio,” he said, rushing over to me. He put his hands on my cheeks and kissed me all over. My forehead, my eyes, my nose, and I giggled. Then he kissed my lips. “It’s so good hearing you giggle.”
“Why am I here?” I asked.
