Lysander's message reached me while I was sitting in the records room. He told me Kiara was safe and that the group had found signs of four people searching the same area. There was nothing about an attack. I put my phone away before anyone entered.
I stayed with the records until dinner.
Father was already seated when I entered the dining room. Mother sat beside him, and Aurelia was across from her. I took my usual place and noticed Lysander's empty chair. Father noticed me looking at it.
"Lysander had pack business to handle." Father picked up his glass. "He should return tomorrow. You don't need to concern yourself with his duties."
"I wasn't concerned." I reached for my food. "I noticed he wasn't here."
Father watched me before returning to his meal.
