I stared at Kiara while Lysander's words settled in. Elias Vale was her older brother, the boy she'd believed died with the rest of her family. She was sitting beside me, unaware of what my brother had discovered. I couldn't imagine telling her without knowing whether the information was genuine.
'Are you certain the name is Elias Vale?' I asked Lysander. 'That's Kiara's brother, and she believes he died at Silvercrest. We need to know where this request came from. Has Lenora found anything else?'
'She's checking the original records now,' Lysander answered. 'The request was recorded shortly after Silvercrest fell, but there's no confirmation that anyone reached Pinehaven. Lenora is sending copies for us to examine. She wants us to be careful about making assumptions.'
