R O S A L I E Axel carried me to our room and gently laid me down on the bed. He then went to the bathroom and came back with a warm wet cloth. He started to clean the blood off my face, his touch gentle and careful. I didn't even realize I was crying until he wiped a tear from my cheek. "Hey," He said softly. "Don't cry. You're safe now." I shook my head, unable to speak. I just cried harder. All the fear, the adrenaline, the anger from the past few days came pouring out of me. I sobbed, my body shaking. Axel didn't say anything. He just held me, letting me cry. He rocked me back and forth, murmuring soothing words in my ear. Eventually, my cries subsided and I was left with nothing but an empty feeling.
