"You cheated on her!" Amy's voice bounces off every concrete pillar in the garage. "Two years, Charles! You always being with me, you kept f*****g me, you came to me the night before your engagement party—"
"Don't." Charles rounds on her. All the raw grief that was aimed at me has burned off into something colder. "Don't you stand here and act like what happened between us was something I chose. You knew I was with her. You used that."
"I loved you!"
"You loved having something she had!" He's past containing it now, all the damage and the embarrassment and the week of parking garages and building security and sleeping in his suit finally hitting critical mass. "You've been doing that your whole life! Everything Lynn had, you wanted it. You couldn't even let me go—"
