Jenny doesn't miss a beat. She turns to Amy for exactly two seconds — enough to say "sweetheart, you know that's not what I meant" — and then pivots back to me. Clean, practiced, the motion of someone who has been managing difficult rooms her entire adult life. Amy doesn't register as a problem to be solved. Amy registers as an obstacle between Jenny and what she actually came here for.
