The hallway was too bright, my senses were on high alert and I could feel everything ten folds more. The scents, the sounds, the lights. Everything was too much and there was a slight pressure in my chest making my breathing difficult. I could hear lockers slammed near the gym. Girls laughing near the bathroom. Someone’s phone played music from inside a backpack. I wanted to grab them all by the shoulders and ask how they could just keep living when something was wrong with Perse. Instead I walked faster. Then faster. By the time I reached the empty corridor near the auditorium, I was almost running. ‘Persefone, answer me right now or I swear to the goddess I’m telling Dad about the fake account you use to stalk his meetings’.
