PENNY POV
Daddy had Perse’s laptop open in front of him, one cable connected to his own system, another to a small external drive, and his fingers were flying over the keyboard so fast they barely looked human. The sound filled every gap in the office.
Tap tap tap tap.
His jaw was clenched. His glasses had slid down his nose and he hadn’t pushed them back up. That alone would have been enough to scare me on a normal day.
There was nothing normal left.
“Daddy,” I said.
