The forest grew darker as I moved further, twigs snapping under my feet as I walked.
My wolf had finally found a way to help me get to Zane quickly, but I understood the risk, not like I cared anyways. All I cared about was making sure that he was fine.
I could still hear faint shouting somewhere ahead and figured out that the border fight hadn’t ended or maybe something worse had started.
My wolf suddenly pushed hard against my chest. She didn’t nudge me forward, but backwards.
“Back where?” I whispered, forcing myself to stop as my eyes darted around. The border was ahead, Zane was ahead. Turning back now made no sense.
But my wolf was focused and determined. It was as though she knew something I didn’t.
