“Fred?” I called, stepping into his office without knocking. “I have a message?”
“Hello to you too, Tessa. I’m fine, thanks for asking. What about you?” Fred replied dryly, closing the report in his hand.
I let out a small laugh. “Hello, doc Fred. I see you’re quite busy. I hope it hasn’t been too hard on you. You’re looking good today.” I teased, dropping into the chair across from him. Knowing Fred, he wouldn’t spill a word unless the greetings were done properly.
“Greeting, Gamma Jessa.”
I nearly jumped out of my skin. My head whipped around, and there was Ronald in the corner, silent as a shadow.
“My goodness—are you a ghost? You almost scared me to death.”
Ronald smirked, clearly amused. “Didn’t mean to scare you. You’re just too easy to startle.”
