Zane’s pov; “Zane! Zane!! Zane!!” I groaned and turned around slowly. Why was Jessica calling out my name so frantically? And why does she sound so far away? My eyelids fluttered open and I blinked once, then twice, suddenly realizing where I was and how I had come to be here. I jerked upright. The spring and the dark mist was gone, but I still heard Jessica’s voice echoing in my head, the sound of her choking. I was still breathing raggedly and my wolf wouldn’t settle despite how I forced myself to make it stay. It tried to claw its way out. My muscles trembled and I knew that all of these were an effect of that substance. I had inhaled too much of it and if I didn’t shake it off and move, Adrian would get what he wanted.
