I struggled to keep Zane’s worried face out of my head as we walked deeper into the woods.
The warning that Adrian had seen was probably just another hidden enemy of ours, masquerading as Adrian. I was sure that it wasn’t him and that was why, I went the opposite way and began my search for him.
“Gamma Jessica,” one of the guards whispered behind me, “There’s something about this place. I can feel something darker here. It’s…” he racked his head and I nodded, understanding what he was trying to tell me.
I could feel it, even more than them. This part of the forest was corrupted and whatever it was, it was even more thicker here.”
I nodded in acknowledgment without slowing my step. “Stay sharp. If the dark aura’s this strong, he’s close, or something is.”
