Selene's POV
I pressed my face against the window, my breath fogging the glass. Through the smudge, I could see them gathering
around Victor's body, hands moving fast and voices shouting orders I couldn't hear through the thick door.
"Come on," I whispered. "Fight. Please fight."
The frantic beeping continued for what felt like hours, but it was probably only minutes. Then, slowly, it began to steady. The doctors stepped back, their movements less urgent.
One of them looked towards the window and gave me a small nod that said he was stable.
I sank down onto the floor right there in the hallway, my legs finally giving out completely. My back hit the wall, and I pulled my knees up to my chest, wrapping my arms around them.
