Vina's POV
I almost canceled the appointment.
Twice.
The first time was that morning.
The second was sitting in my car outside Dr. Harris's office with my hand on the keys.
Last time I'd sat in that room, I'd been trying to understand how I'd missed so much with Ava.
Now I knew something worse.
I hadn't missed all of it.
Some of it I'd seen.
I went inside.
Dr. Harris smiled when I entered.
“Welcome back, Vina.”
“Yeah.”
I sat in the same chair as before.
She waited until I settled.
“How have things been since we last spoke?”
I laughed without humor.
“How much time do you have?”
“Fifty minutes.”
That actually made me smile.
“Then I better talk fast.”
She smiled slightly.
“What happened?”
“Ava had a birthday.”
“How did that go?”
“Good.”
Dr. Harris raised an eyebrow.
