Ava's POV
“TIA!”
I looked up just in time to see Mateo running toward us.
“Don't tackle me. I have coffee!”
He skidded to a stop.
“I wasn't going to tackle you.”
“You absolutely were.”
He grinned as I hugged him.
“Ready to kick some ass?”
“Ava,” Mom immediately scolded.
Mateo laughed. “I'm nine, Tia.”
“Exactly. Old enough to kick ass responsibly.”
Blaze snorted while Cloe shook her head.
“You're a terrible influence.”
“Yet he loves me.”
Mateo fist-bumped Blaze before spotting Dad.
“You came!”
“Course I did.”
Mateo hugged him, catching Dad off guard for half a second.
“I'm gonna score today.”
“You better. I drove all the way over here.”
“Dad.”

“I gotta go!”

He took off.
