I needed somebody to hook me up to an industrial-sized coffee machine and let the caffeine flow directly into my bloodstream. Because holy hell. I was exhausted. I'd finally fallen asleep sometime after two in the morning. Then my alarm had gone off at six. Four hours. Four miserable hours of sleep. And apparently, I was expected to function like a responsible adult. Rude. Absolutely rude. At least the kids had gotten to school on time. Evan had been unusually quiet during breakfast. He'd noticed the dark circles beneath my eyes. "Mom, you look tired." "Thank you, sweetheart. Every mother dreams of hearing those words." He'd grinned. "Just saying." "Well, stop saying." Ana
