It took me a second to process what was happening.
“f**k!” I cursed through gritted teeth when it dawned on me that my mother was missing.
My noise woke Carla from her sleep. “What’s going on?” She asked, her voice slightly groggy.
I took a deep breath and narrowed my eyes at her. “Did you touch my phone yesterday?” I had to ask because I didn’t recall putting my phone on silent.
There was no way I would have missed so many calls from them. I was very alert and would have heard my phone ringing.
Carla nodded, rubbing her eyes with her hand. “Yes, I had to put it on silent because someone was constantly calling and I didn’t want to interrupt your sleep.”
